Samuel Lister Academy Goes Mobile

ecoming an Academy is a big step for any school to take. It gives the school a level of creative freedom and control that they would never have had before, but it also means that they have more pressure to be successful.

When the Samuel Lister Academy in Bingley, West Yorkshire became an Academy in April 2012, Principal, Bec Treacher knew that they needed to somehow innovate learning to give themselves every opportunity to become an outstanding school.

Bec Treacher along with Assistant Principal/Network Manager Mark Ellis made the decision to invest in iPads for every student and teacher to use in lessons and outside of school. They knew that for the iPads to be effective learning tools, they needed to manage them, filter them and have a way to safely share information and resources, so they brought in Lightspeed Systems Mobile Learning Essentials.
We visited Samuel Lister for the day to spend time with Bec, Mark and a few of their great teachers and students to find out how they’re transforming the Academy into a technology-rich hub for learning.
